Minor in Geology

A minor in geology consists of at least 12 credits selected from the list of 100-, 200- and 300-level GEOL and PGEOG prefix courses and GTECH 35100, Field Techniques. It is strongly recommended that at least one course at each level be included and that one of the courses be a lab-based course.

The guide below is offered as an example of how to complete a typical minor in geology; we strongly recommend discussing specific sets of courses with the undergraduate advisor.

100-level courses from which to select at least one course are: GEOL 10000, GEOL 10100, GEOL 10200, GEOL 10500, GEOL 18000. GEOL 10100 and GEOL 10200 are lab-based courses.

200-level courses from which to select at least one course are: GEOL 20500, GEOL 23100, GEOL 28000. GEOL 23100 is a lab-based course. All 200-level GEOL courses have at least one 100-level course pre-requisite.

300-level courses from which to select at least one course are: GEOL 38000, GEOL 39303, PGEOG 33400, PGEOG 36100*, GTECH 35100. GTECH 35100 is a field course. All 300-level GEOL and PGEOG courses have lower level pre-requisites.

* PGEOG 25000 is a prerequisite for PGEOG 36100
