GIS Career Paths of two GIS Gurus at Esri

GUEST SPEAKERS:

Nick Furness (@geeknixta) is Product Manager for the ArcGIS Runtime SDKs for iOS and macOS and has worked on the Developer Outreach team at Esri for 9 years, focusing on helping build GIS solutions for iOS and the web. He has worked on a broad range of custom GIS projects (including some cutting edge products with Sean), from enterprise-scale electrical outage management tools all the way down to a catch basin inspection and treatment system to help combat West Nile Virus. He loves tinkering, code, and maps.

Jim Barry (@jimbarry) is a GeoDeveloper Advocate at Esri, currently doing GIS developer community support, outreach, and technology adoption work in the NYC area. In 23 years at Esri, Jim has worked in a variety of roles in app development, consulting, teaching, and technical support. Before that, he worked in GIS tech positions in local goverment, for a major electric utility, and is a former US Army infantry officer. In 2013, was recognized by Boundless Spatial as one of the top 10 most influential people in geospatial technology.
