Volunteer with the Natural Areas Conservancy and NYC Parks Stewardship Team to plant shrubs and trees in the forest of Kissena Park! Trees provide so many benefits to New Yorkers such as improved air and water quality, reduced pollution, and lower energy costs. Volunteers will be trained in proper planting techniques by staff. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Face masks may be worn at your discretion. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone. Space is limited and registration is required for this event.

During the last hour of the event, NYC Parks staff will demonstrate I-Naturalist for anyone interested in taking part in City Nature Challenge 2023, a global bio-blitz! Volunteers will learn how to identify plants and learn how to make iNaturalist observations. Please bring water and a snack, as well as your smartphone or camera! If you do not know how to use iNaturalist, arrive 15 minutes early and we will show you how! This event is sponsored by One Tree Planted.

This event is open to all students, their friends, and families. For more information contact Greenbelt Society of Hunter College.
