Professor Allan Frei's Statement on the Presidental Election
November 21, 2016
Dear Students, Colleagues, and Friends of Hunter Geography,
I realize that there is great concern about the changes that may be coming as a result of the election results. I share those concerns. New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, CUNY Chancellor James B. Milliken, and Hunter College President Jennifer J. Raab, have all issued statements ensuring that the state, city, university and college intend to foster an environment respectful to all members of our community, which includes people from a diverse array of backgrounds; and to foster an environment conducive to the open exchange of ideas, including a diverse array of viewpoints. It is my intention to foster a respectful environment in the Department of Geography, so that all of our students have a safe place to continue their education and grow to be valued members of the greater community.
At the bottom of this message I have pasted some links to the statements, and to possible sources of support available to Hunter students. As more information becomes available to me I will pass it on to our Geography community. Please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Allan Frei
