Hunter Student Spotlight
Congratulations to Gabriel Castro, undergraduate student major in Environmental Studies, on being selected for a competitive Undergraduate Field Ecology Research Fellowship with the Reinmann Lab at Hunter College and the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center. Gabriel will join a National Science Foundation funded research project examining how forest fragmentation and climate change affect temperate forest ecosystems, including tree growth and the cycling of carbon, nitrogen, and water. His work will involve immersive field research at Harvard Forest in Massachusetts, along with laboratory and collaborative research activities at CUNY ASRC in Harlem. This fellowship provides hands-on training in ecological field methods, data collection, and environmental analysis as part of a multi-site research program investigating forest edge and interior dynamics.
