A great fellowship opportunity exists for students wishing to purse a Ph.D. in environmental economics - the field of economics that focuses on the interplay between the environment and the economy.
The University of California at Santa Barbara has one of the strongest programs in the world in environmental and natural resource economics. they have NSF funds to provide multi-year fellowships of $30,000 per year plus most tuition and fees to US residents. The program (Economics and Environmental Science -EES) is particularly innovative in that it combines rigorous economics training with additional training in natural science.
