Hunter Geography welcomes Professor Cheng Fu for
2016/2017 academic year

Professor Cheng Fu will join the faculty of the Department of Geography for a one year assignment beginning with the fall 2016 semester. His research interests include data mining on spatial Big Data and modeling human dynamics in urban settings. He also has rich project experience in Web GIS. Related projects include a crime visualization dashboard for the U.S. Department of Justice, a D.C. traffic network visualization platform, and a regional ASEAN socio-economic knowledge platform for Asian Development Bank. This fall Professor Fu will teach an online section of GTECH 70900, and two face-to-face classes--a section of GTECH 73200, Advanced GIS, and a special topics course in Web GIS to be scheduled soon. He received his BS from Peking University (China), his MA from Binghamton University, and anticipates his PhD from the University of Maryland later this summer.
