Fuzzy Tolerance

Here is a list of commonly used fuzzy tolerance values for a given data entry scale and the units used for storing coverage coordinates. As discussed previously, these values represent the best possible coverage resolution at these scales.

The formula for calculating fuzzy tolerance on the ground for different map tolerances at different scales is:

scale = fuzzy tolerance / x

For a map tolerance of 0.002 incles and a scale at 1/250,000:

	        1     =    0.002"
             250,000         x

		x = 500 inches

OR

		x = 500" * 1"
                       12"

		x = 41.6 ft
