Warm-up Lab

ESRI Course on Migrating from ArcView 3.x to ArcView 8.

In this class, we will use the GIS software program ArcView 8.2. A prerequisite for this warm-up lab is knowledge of ArcView 3.2. Please talk with your lab instructor if you do not have experience using ArcView 3.2.

The warm-up lab will be taken from the ESRI Course Catalogue web page. The course is entitled ‘Migrating from ArcView GIS 3.x to ArcView 8. There is a course overview and six modules that will provide you training in ArcView 8 and explain the important differences between ArcView 3.x and ArcView 8. These modules are free, but you must register with ESRI to take the course.

Follow the directions on how to register and enroll for the course. Follow the course directions and do the following six modules. At the end of each module there is a test. You will receive a certificate at the completion of each test. Please post your certificates on your website under Gtech 362/732 and a web link to another web page called Warm-up Lab.

The six modules that you are to complete include:

1. Basics of ArcView 8

2. Displaying Data in ArcView 8

3. Working with Spatial Data in ArcView 8

4. Querying your Database in ArcView 8

5. Presenting Data in ArcView 8
