Term Project:
You are required to submit a term (research) paper on a topic that is clearly related to the content of this course. A great variety of subjects are acceptable, as may be inferred from daily lecture topics and corresponding text chapters. Ideally, the topic you choose is something that genuinely interests you, and about which you would like to learn more. Please consult with the instructor early and often about your topic.
Your term paper is due in class on Thursday, December 11, the last class meeting. Your paper must be submitted along with a packet that contains notes and other evidence of research. Late submissions will be penalized by a full grade deduction. The definition of "late" is any time after the end of our class on December 11. Papers must be typed or word-processed double-spaced (12-point type) on regular bond paper. The body/text portion (excluding title page and bibliography) should be in the range of 15-25 pages in length.
Your paper will be graded in accordance with the following formula:
10% Introduction and appropriateness. (Begin your paper by fully establishing the relationship between your topic and GEOG 334.) 50% Content. (Does the body of your paper demonstrate an appropriate amount of research?) 20% Organization. (Does your paper "flow" smoothly and logically from start to finish?) 10% Grammar and spelling. 10% Bibliography and citations. (Is there a bibliography? Does it contain an appropriate number of citations? Is there appropriate use of footnotes/citations in the text? Do they conform to an accepted style?) ____
100%
