2009 Hunter College Mina Rees Scholarship
Debjani Ghatak, Ph.D. student in the Earth & Environmental Science Program at the CUNY Graduate Center has been named this year's recipient of the 2009 Hunter College Mina Rees Scholarship. The Mina Rees Scholarship is awarded to a Ph.D. student each year based on: (a) Promise of scientific professionalism, drive, incisiveness, originality. (b) Promise of competence as a teacher; solidity and span of subject matter, knowledge and articulateness. (c) Aspirations as a cultured person -commitment, breadth and genuineness of intellectual interest. Professor Allan Frei is Ms. Ghatak's principal adviser. For her research Ms. Ghatak is looking at how the complicated feedback factors controlling climate change may impact changes in sea ice, snow cover, and atmospheric circulation patterns in the Arctic region and globally.
